CHANGE in Fingerprinting and Background Check Procedures
Effective: June 12, 2006

Change implemented by the CO Department of Education

Students are required to submit a fingerprint card and fee and have a background check processed by the CO Dept. of Education, CBI, and FBI as part of the CSU Licensure Program and as a requirement to engage in field experiences in ED 340. THIS PROCESS IS CHANGING EFFECTIVE JUNE 12, 2006.

Beginning on June 12, 2006, all fingerprint cards will be sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the CSU Licensing Office rather than the CDE. The CBI will charge $39.50 and will only accept a money order or certified check. Personal checks and cash are not accepted by CBI.

Students will need to pick up the CDE-approved fingerprint card from the CSU Educator Licensing Program, have the prints “rolled” on the card, and then return the card and fee to the CSU Licensing Office. The office staff will then forward all cards to the CBI.

All students who have submitted their fingerprint card prior to June 12 will not have to submit a new card to the CBI. However, cards received on or after June 12 will be sent to CBI and students will need to have a certified check or money order attached to the fingerprint card.

Please see the Licensure Office staff in room 100 Education (phone 970-491-5292) with any further questions. Thank you for your attention to this important policy change.
